I got my start in art because my home was always filled with creativity—art and music were just part of daily life. This is thanks to a family line with a few dedicated artists. My mother, especially, was a huge inspiration; she was a seriously engaged artist whose passion showed up everywhere: at home, at church, and in the community. I'm back at the easel now, painting again since moving to beautiful Bath, Ontario. For several years, I was mostly focused on the rewarding but demanding job of raising two adopted children and keeping up with a full-time career. In the past I contributed to charity events, like the watercolor paintings I donated for a church fundraiser when we lived in British Columbia. I even dipped into the commercial art world for a bit; some of my work was on display and for sale at the Mind and Matter Gallery in South Surrey back in 2018.
